Blind Snooks Eaglin

The Human Jukebox

New Orleans-based guitarist and singer Snooks Eaglin possesses a vocal style reminiscent to that of Ray Charles. As a teenager in the 1950’s he would sometimes refer to himself as “Little Ray Charles.” Regarded as a legend of New Orleans he was known for playing a wide range of musical style. In his early years, he also played some straight-ahead acoustic blues. His tremendous volume of songs earned him the nickname “the human jukebox.” Eaglin once claimed in interviews that his musical repertoire included upwards of some 2,500 songs.
