Stockyard Blues

Floyd Jones

“Chicago Blues”, 1970

Floyd Jones (guitar & vocals) performs in a scene from the 1970 film “Chicago Blues”.

Following the recording and playback of his “Stockyard Blues” Floyd Jones reveals the origin of its lyrics and shares advice given to him by Big Bill Broonzy.

Among the first generation of post war Chicago blues guitarists to plug in to an amplifier, Floyd was active for many years but found success fleeting while bearing witness to some score a single hit record and go straight to the top.

Active in Arkansas and Mississippi in the 1930s and 40s he moved to Chicago in 1945 and made his recording debut with Snooky Pryor two years later.
