Belton Sutherland (guitar & vocals) performs “Old Grey Mule” in an excerpt from the 1978 Alan Lomax documentary “The Land Where The Blues Began.”

He was a blues guitarist and farmer from Canton, Mississippi seen here performing on the porch of his friend, local fiddler Clyde Maxwell. In spite of his appearance in the film there is surprisingly little information to be found regarding the life of Belton Sutherland.
