Country blues icon Big Bill Broonzy performs “Worried Man Blues”, “Hey Hey”, and “How You Want It Done” in 1957 on the porch steps of the farmhouse at Circle Pines Center camp.

Big Bill’s first visit to the Circle Pines Center was in 1953 in the company of Dr. Vera Morkovin and Studs Terkel. The cooperative year-round camp was located in Hastings, Michigan and Bill found employment there as camp cook during the Summer months from ’53–’56. Pete Seeger joined him there in July 1954 for a concert on the farmhouse lawn, recorded by Seeger for Chicago radio station WFMT-FM. Broonzy departed in early 1956 on a world wide tour including Europe, Africa, and South America.
