Dinah Washington was one of the top jazz, r&b and blues-oriented singers of the 1950s.

Actually she could not be pinned down to any one style for she could sing anything with soul, swing and sass.

This medley features Miss D. at the 1958 Newport Jazz Festival (performing “All Of Me” with an all-star group that includes vibraphonist Terry Gibbs and drummer Max Roach) and at the Apollo Theater in 1955 with Paul Williams’ band (“I Don’t Hurt Anymore,” “Lean Baby,” “Only A Moment Ago,” and “Oh, What A Night”).

Although she was very influential on other female singers, there was never another Dinah Washington.
