By 1974, Keith Jarrett had become famous for his solo piano concerts and for his American quartet with Dewey Redman, Charlie Haden and Paul Motian.
That year, he put together a new European quartet comprised of tenor and soprano-saxophonist Jan Garbarek, bassist Palle Danielsson and drummer Jon Christiansen.
They would eventually become known as the Belonging Quartet after the 1977 album of the same name but they were barely documented on records up until that time.
Fortunately the group was filmed during a few of their appearances in 1974 including this very valuable and exciting early segment from a television studio in Oslo.
