While soprano-saxophonist and flutist Jane Bunnett originally played free bop and was influenced a bit by Dewey Redman, she really found her voice when she began exploring Cuban jazz, not only performing songs in that idiom but by making many trips to Cuba to learn directly from the native musicians.

In her career she has done a great deal of good for Cuban musicians, from donating instruments to utilizing them in her bands.

This performance from Sept. 18, 2010 has Jane Bunnett joined by pianist Hilario Duran, bassist Roberto Riveron, drummer-percussionist Jorge Papiosco, Yosvany Castaneda on violin and vocals, and fluegelhornist Larry Cramer; they play a stirring Afro-Cuban jazz original.
