One of the unsung greats of the jazz piano, Ray Bryant always had his own swinging style along with superb technique.

While rooted in swing and the blues, Ray Bryant could also play modern jazz, boogie-woogie, accompany singers, and perform memorable solo concerts.

Here he is at the 1977 Montreux Jazz Festival, tearing into John Lewis’ “Django” in dramatic and exciting fashion.
