While David Sanborn has at times said that he is not a jazz musician since he is generally associated with r&b, he can play jazz whenever he wants.

Sanborn always had a distinctive sound, is happy to acknowledge the influence of Hank Crawford, and has excelled whenever he is in a jazz setting.

In 2010, Sanborn toured Europe with a trio also featuring the superb organist Joey DeFrancesco and drummer Gene Lake.

On “Full House,” the combination of the passionate altoist and the rollicking organist, along with Lake’s hard-driving drums, works very well.
