A gifted pianist and composer, Garner started playing piano at two (or three) by some accounts and never learned to read music. His influences included the ‘novelty rags’ of the ’20s, Earl Hines, and the rhythm compings of Freddie Green (Count Basie’s long-time guitarist).

Personnel:

Errol Garner, piano
Ernest McCarty, bass
Jimmie Smith, drums
José Mangual, percussion
