Composed in 1931 by Einar Aaron Swan, “When Your Lover Has Gone” would become a jazz standard after James Cagney knocked it out of the ballpark in the movie “Blonde Crazy.” It’s been performed by jazz luminaries such as Sonny Rollins, Julie London, Billie Holiday, and Louis Armstrong.
