The pianist with one of his finest trios
Pianist Bill Charlap has performed and recorded with a variety of different groups through the years, always invigorating classics from the Great American Songbook.
Arguably his finest unit is his trio with bassist Peter Washington and drummer Kenny Washington, a tight unit that is a perfect showcase for Charlap’s modern mainstream playing and his huge repertoire.
On this version of “Out Of Nowhere,” both Washingtons have opportunities to take short solos while Charlap makes a melodic statement of his own, accompanies the bassist, and trades off with the drummer before taking the song out.
