Courtney Pine is best known as a superb tenor-saxophonist who is based in England.

However on this performance of Thad Jones’ “A Child Is Born,” he shows that he is also a virtuoso on bass clarinet.

While Zoe Rahman plays it fairly straight during their duo performance, letting Pine shine, she is a highly rated pianist in England and has led eight albums of her own.

Courtney Pine displays a wide range, sensitivity and a little bit of his wit during this passionate yet mostly melodic performance.
