Victor Wooten began on the bass when he was two, played in The Wooten Brothers Band with his siblings when he was six, and initially became famous for his contributions to banjoist Bela Fleck’s Flecktones after meeting Fleck in 1987.
He has since been recognized as one of the top electric bassists, leading at least ten albums since 1996.
Performed at a music camp during a rainy day at 8 in the morning, Wooten creates a solo bass performance of Stevie Wonder’s “Isn’t She Lovely,” playing part of the melody of “Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head” five minutes into the piece.
Wooten sets a rhythmic pattern and then plays above it with creative yet tasteful and melodic ideas at a relaxed and unhurried tempo.
