Veteran drummer Bob Meyer has worked with a long list of notables during the past few decades including Joe Lovano, John Abercrombie, Kenny Werner, Sheila Jordan, Ray Nance, Jaki Byard, Paul McCandless, Diane Schuur, Stanley Cowell, Mal Waldron, Red Rodney, James Moody, and Eric Person.
He has often led The Bob Meyer Project, a quartet that at the time of this 2012 performance is comprised of tenor-saxophonist Steven Frieder, guitarist Luke Franco, and bassist Mike McGuirk.
Frieder contributed “Things I’ve Thunk,” a jazz waltz with a melody that has a pause, as if one were thinking aloud.
Frieder, Franco and McGuirk all take solos that are quietly adventurous.
