Dado Moroni, who was born in Genoa, Italy, is a superior jazz pianist who was largely self-taught.
He became known in the 1980s, mostly working in Europe and, moving to New York in 1991 although he has since returned to Italy.
In his career he has worked with such notables as Freddie Hubbard, Clark Terry, Zoot Sims, Ray Brown, and Franco Ambrosetti leading at least 16 albums of his own
For his Bill Evans tribute album Kind Of Bill, Moroni was joined by bassist Eddie Gomez and drummer Joe LaBarbera, two from members of Evans’ trio.
While Bill Evans is an inspiration, Dado Moroni stretches out on “Someday My Prince Will Come” and a high-powered version of “Minority” in his own swinging and sophisticated style.
