While one thinks of Larry Carlton as a bluesy and laidback guitarist often heard playing melodic music that sometimes crosses over into pop, he was always a more versatile guitarist than that image.
From 1997, he solos quite fluently on a rapid rendition of Miles Davis’ “So What.”
The guitarist is joined by keyboardist Rick Jackson, electric bassist Chris Kent , and drummer Moyes Lucas for a blazing performance that features Carlton stretching himself a bit before concluding the performance with his easy-listening composition “Room 335.”
