This video is from a Stockholm, Sweden jazz concert on February 18, 1983.

Composed in 1954 by Sonny Rollins, “Airegin” has since become a jazz standard. Miles Davis’ group, that same year, was the first to record it. “Airegin” would soon be covered by guitarist Wes Montgomery.

The same year of this performance, Elvis Costello hired trumpeter Chet Baker to appear on his album “Punch the Clock.” And many Costello fans had never before heard Baker’s sound, offering Baker an entirely new audience.

Personnel:

Stan Getz, saxophone
Chet Baker, trumpet
Jim McNeely, piano
George Mraz, bass
Victor Lewis, drums
