Joe Pass (1929-94) was a superb bop-based guitarist who mastered the art of playing unaccompanied solos.
Pass also occasionally played with larger groups and is featured here on “All The Things You Are” leading a trio with bassist Harvey Newmark.
There are many bright moments to this subtle performance including Pass’ unaccompanied first chorus, his interplay with Newmark, and the way that the bassist duplicates some of his ideas,
All in all, this is timeless music.
