In December 1986 at a special concert in Los Angeles sponsored by JVC, an all-star group called “Strings Attached” featured five brilliant guitarists.
On this version of “Autumn Leaves,” veteran Tal Farlow is seated in the middle, takes the first solo, and smiles approvingly at each of his fellow guitarists while they play.
Coryell plays a heated solo, Abercrombie is thoughtful and purposely often out of time, Scofield swings, and Carlton creates a quiet and bluesy improvisation before Farlow takes the song out.
Bassist John Patitucci and drummer Billy Hart provide tasteful support for the guitar greats.
