Kenny Barron has been such a consistently masterful pianist ever since he joined Dizzy Gillespie’s band in 1962 that it is easy to take him for granted.

A master of the modern mainstream of jazz, Barron always swings, has his own sophisticated chord voicings, and never seems to put on an uninspired performance.

This version of “Autumn Leaves” was created on June 5, 1993 at a Tokyo concert when Barron was on tour with nine other great pianists as “100 Gold Fingers.”

He teams up with bassist Bob Cranshaw and drummer Alan Dawson who give him tasteful and stimulating support.
