Terence Blanchard has been a major jazz trumpeter since joining Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers in the 1980s.
As a performer, bandleader, and a composer for films, Blanchard has certainly made his mark.
Blanchard has long had his own musical identity as a trumpeter with his own personal sound.
From back in 2000, here is Blanchard’s dazzling and passionate solo on “Autumn Leaves.”
He is accompanied by pianist Ed Simon, bassist Derek Nevergelt and drummer Eric Harland; altoist Aaron Fletcher and tenor-saxophonist Brice Winston were also in his sextet.
