Buddy Tate was one of the great tenor saxophonists of the swing era. A sometime collaborator with Benny Goodman, at the time of this recording Tate was working at the Celebrity Club.
Written in 1938 by Mack David, Count Basie and Jerry Livingston, “Blue and Sentimental” was first recorded in 1947 by Count Basie’s orchestra.
