A Mozart-like music prodigy, at seven a Pittsburgh drug store hired George Benson to play ukulele to attract customers. At 8, he was playing guitar in an unlicensed night club. His first recording at age 10 “She Makes Me Mad” was recorded in NYC by RCA-Victor under the name “Little Georgie.”

Meeting and performing with organist Jack McDuff turned him on to jazz – and the rest as they say is history.
