Joey Alexander, born in Indonesia in 2003, taught himself to play piano by ear by listening to his father’s jazz records, gaining inspiration from musicians such as Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane, and Herbie Hancock.

Alexander released his first album, “My Favorite Things” in 2015 at age 11. The album contains one original composition.
