Just a few short years after a proverbial “meteoric” rise to fame in 1959, Ornette Coleman stepped away from the music industry, stopped performing, and re-focused on his music.

During that time he learned the trumpet and violin and started working with string players.

Performing again in 1965, he was learning this trio with David Izenzon on bass and Charles Moffett on drums.
