“Confirmation” was one of the best originals penned by Charlie Parker, immediately becoming a bebop standard in the late 1940s.

For this 2021 version, pianist John Beasley is joined by tenor saxophonist Justo Almario, trombonist Francisco Torres, electric bassist Marcus Miller, drummer Justin Tyson, and percussionist Alex Acuña for a Latin jazz (or Cubop) rendition of Bird’s song.

Highlights include the Almario-Torres exchange and the stirring percussion by Acuña.
