Jackie McLean is joined by an all-star group for this performance of “Cool Struttin'” at the 1986 Mt. Fuji Jazz Festival.

McLean entered the jazz world at a young age, receiving lessons from neighbors Charlie Parker and Thelonious Monk. By the end of high school, he had already played professionally with Kenny Drew and Sonny Rollins. McLean went on to become one of the 1960s’ most inventive saxophonists, releasing a string of landmark hard bop LPs on Blue Note.
