Ten Masters

Solos

One of the many remarkable things about jazz is the OCEAN of accomplished musicians who’ve been involved with it over the years.

If there is another field of human endeavor that has and has had so many true master practitioners in it?

A YouTube channel producer named “Bernie Sanders” (not THE Bernie Sanders) put this reel together, with ten great tenors you should know – but you probably already know them.

Every solo is a composition in its own right, so these artists are truly composers as well as “soloists.”

In order of appearance (because to rank musicians is ridiculous.)

Booker Ervin
Don Byas
Harold Land
Larry McKenna
Wardell Gray
Paul Gonsalves
Charlie Rouse
Eddie “Lockjaw” Davis
George Coleman
Sal Nistico
