Pianist Emmet Cohen and drummer Herlin Riley always make for a perfect team, inspiring each other to smile with their musicianship, colorful playing and wit.

In a quintet with trumpeter Bruce Harris, tenor-saxophonist Stacy Dillard, and bassist Russell Hall, they perform Riley’s strutting hard bop original “Harlem Shuffle.”

Harris creates a colorful statement, Cohen sometimes recalls Bobby Timmons in spots, Dillard stretches out a bit, and Hall has an inventive solo.

This performance will leave one smiling.
