Banu Gibson has been one of the top singers of New Orleans jazz and swing since the 1980s.

In addition to having an excellent and flexible voice, she always picks out superior songs to sing, utilizes inventive frameworks, and has top-notch musicians in her New Orleans Hot Jazz band.

For her version of Louis Armstrong’s “Heebies Jeebies” from 1986, she is featured with an early version of her band which consists of trumpeter Charlie Fardella, trombonist David Sager, pianist David Boeddinghaus, Tom Saunders on tuba, and drummer Richard Taylor.

While Banu and her musicians pay tribute to Armstrong’s 1926 recording, they add a lot of their own personalities and ideas to the music, with each chorus keeping one guessing what is coming up next.
