In the 1970s, tenor-saxophonist Michael Brecker and trumpeter Randy Brecker had a very busy schedule as studio musicians, recording regularly in pop and rock settings.
However, they enjoyed taking an occasional jazz vacation.
Pianist Hal Galper managed to get the Brecker Brothers on some of his sessions including this one from the 1977 Berlin Jazz Festival.
With bassist Wayne Dockery and drummer Bob Moses completing the quintet, Randy and Michael Brecker take solos that are both soulful and a bit witty on Galper’s “Hey Fool.”
