One of Canada’s top jazz singers, Nikki Yanofsky started singing professionally at a very young age.

She performed at the Montreal Jazz Festival when she was 12, recorded her first song (“Air Mail Special”) as part of a multi-artist tribute to Ella Fitzgerald when she was 13, and cut her first album as a leader the following year.

The singer has been well known in her native Canada ever since and mostly has performed swinging jazz throughout her career.

On this spirited version of “I Got Rhythm,” Ms. Yanofsky displays plenty of confidence, a beautiful voice, an exciting scatting style (including scatting some rapid unisons with the guitarist), and swings throughout.

Nikki Yanofsky was 16 at the time.
