When it comes to singing songs from the 1930s, Rebecca Kilgore has been at the top of her field during the past couple of decades; she consistently uplifts every tune that she sings including many long-forgotten obscurities.

Ms. Kilgore has often teamed up with the masterful trombonist Dan Barrett as on this performance from a jazz festival in 2012 which also includes pianist Rossano Sportiello, bassist Jon Burr, and drummer Ricky Malichi.

“I Saw Stars” was recorded by Django Reinhardt in the mid-1930s but has been rarely revived since; Rebecca Kilgore (who also plays rhythm guitar) makes it sound like a beloved standard.
