One of the most wondrous jazz pianists of all time, Oscar Peterson could outswing any other pianist.
Joe Pass developed a remarkable technique of his own on guitar, becoming a potential one-man band who could play an uptempo tune such as “Cherokee” with the melody, bass lines, and harmony while he soloed unaccompanied.
Peterson and Pass teamed up frequently in the 1970s including on this 1980 television show.
With bassist Niels Pederson and drummer Martin Drew, Peterson and Pass challenge each other during a blazing version of “Just Friends.”
