Pianist Emmet Cohen’s weekly podcasts have been a joy for jazz fans during the past few years.
On each show, his trio welcomes a guest or two and the resulting music is full of magical moments.
That is certainly true of this uptempo version of “Just In Time” which has Cohen joined by tenor-saxophonist Craig Handy, trumpeter Brian Lynch, bassist Phillip Norris, and drummer Joe Farnsworth.
An opening drum break launches the piece, the explosive solos of Handy, Lynch and Cohen each get two stop-time choruses in their middle, and Farnsworth (switching between brushes and sticks) takes one of his finest solos on film.
