One of the greatest flutist of all time, Hubert Laws created waves in the 1960s and ‘70s but has not recorded often enough since that time despite still playing in peak form for over 50 years.

The group featured on this clip does not seem to have made a recording, so this film is quite valuable.

On “Land Of Passion,” an original that Laws first recorded in 1978, he is joined by pianist David Budway, keyboardist Rob Mullins, bassist John Leftwich, and drummer Ralph Penland

Laws’ tone on flute is as beautiful as ever and his quintet displays an attractive group sound on the relaxed and melodic original.
