Originally written and recorded by Gerry Mulligan for his 1957 album “Blues in Time,” “Line for Lyons” was the brainchild of a talented arranger.

Pianist Billy Taylor was a jazz pianist who collaborated with Nancy Wilson, Dizzy Gillespie and Christian McBride. In later life he was also an academic, a music educator.
