Live at the Monterey Jazz Festival

Cal Tjader & Dizzy Gillespie

Monterey Jazz Festival, 1975

Vibraphonist Cal Tjader joins bebop pioneer Dizzy Gillespie for an excellent set at the 1975 Monterey Jazz Festival in Monterey, California.

Tjader and Gillespie are two of the most famous American jazz musicians to explore Afro-Cuban and Latin-influenced styles of jazz. Although Tjader never recorded with Gillespie, he frequently performed the trumpeter’s compositions, including “Manteca” and “Guarachi Guaro.”
