Live in Monrteal – 1964
The Duke Ellington Orchestra
Dark footage, hot music from Casa Loma
About our new look
It’s not your eyes.
This is an old “kinoscope” and a bit underexposed (a least on the one and only copy we’ve found), but the music is hot.
Le Jazz Hot Room in Montreal’s famed Casa Loma Club on April 20, 1964 with the cameras of Radio-Canada rolling.
Many interesting camera angles and the picture does lighten up from time to time.
I love the relaxed feel of the show and the hip and appreciative Montreal audience.
It was a special evening – and now, you can be there.
