Midnight Mood – 1978
Bill Evans
An uptempo jazz waltz played by a master
Bill Evans was filmed often during his career, but each clip has something special to offer viewers.
In 1978 Evans added the young bassist Marc Johnson to his trio while utilizing his old friend drummer Philly Joe Jones for a European tour; Joe La Barbara would soon take over the drum chair.
For his lesser-known jazz waltz “Midnight Mood,” Evans is in top form, swinging while leaving room for a short bass solo by Johnson.
