Jan Garbarek always had his own sound on tenor, which was one of the reasons that Keith Jarrett used him in his European Quartet in the 1980s.
While Garbarek played avant-garde jazz earlier in his career, he also liked embracing melodies and created his own difficult-to-classify music.
In addition to Garbarek’s adventurous playing and a spot for drummer Peter Erskine, this version of “Mountain In The Cloud” has an outstanding acoustic bass solo from Miroslav Vitous.
