In 1941, Victor Young published the composition “My Foolish Heart.” The song made its public debut the same year through vocalist Martha Mears in a film of the same name. Despite being harshly criticized by Time magazine, the song received an Academy Award nomination.

Over time, this composition has been covered by distinguished jazz figures including George Shearing, Oscar Peterson, Kurt Elling, Gene Harris, and Keith Jarrett.
