One of the greatest saxophonists of all time, Michael Brecker was sometimes underrated due to his frequent appearances on pop and rock sessions in the 1970s and ’80s.

However, as is evident from this 1988 performance, Brecker had few equals on his instrument.

A technical marvel who was also highly creative in constructing solos, Brecker passionately interprets “My One And Only Love” while preserving its inherent tenderness.

Following an impressive unaccompanied chorus, he is joined by pianist Joey Calderazzo, building the song to a climactic finish with his cadenza.
