“On Green Dolphin Street” may be one of the more overplayed of all jazz standards, but it sounds fresh and new on this version by Chick Corea’s Akoustic Trio.

Corea, along with bassist John Patitucci and drummer Dave Weckl, starts the piece as an impressionistic dream, not hinting at the tune for quite awhile.

The trio’s performance becomes quite passionate during the high-powered performance before the melody briefly and reluctantly emerges.

Patitucci makes a virtuosic statement that is adventurous as Corea’s playing and the group’s ensembles are full of fire.
