Rainy Days And Mondays – 1973

Sarah Vaughan

A very rare film clip of the Divine One

Sarah Vaughan was always a remarkable singer, whether early in her career in the 1940s or during her later period in the ‘80s, whether romping on a fast tune or drenching a ballad with emotion.

This rather rare film clip features Sarah Vaughan in 1973, performing at the Continental Baths at the New York’s Ansonia Hotel with her regular trio of the time: pianist Carl Schroeder, bassist John Giannelli and drummer Jimmy Cobb.

After swinging a bit on “Tonight, Tonight,” she digs into “Rainy Days And Mondays.”

The picture may be a bit blurry but Sassy’s very powerful voice definitely comes through.
