One of the greatest jazz trumpeters of all time, Freddie Hubbard passed away on Dec.29, 2008 at the age of 70.

His favorite song that he wrote was “Red Clay” which he featured on a classic recording in 1970.

A month after Hubbard’s death, on Jan. 10, 2009, a special memorial concert was held in Harlem’s Abyssinian Baptist Church.

An all-star group performed “Red Clay” with trumpeter Jeremy Pelt in outstanding form and bassist Alex Blake also taking a memorable solo.
