“Rockin’ In Rhythm” was in Duke Ellington’s repertoire from the early 1930s until his death over 40 years later.

The song always acted as a fine introduction to the sound of Ellington’s remarkable orchestra.

This concise version, performed on the Ed Sullivan Show, has brief spots for clarinetist Russell Procope and trombonist Lawrence Brown but is most notable for the ensembles (which include altoist Johnny Hodges and baritonist Harry Carney) and the high note trumpet playing of Cat Anderson.
