Bassist Charlie Haden was born on August 6th, 1937 in Shenandoah, Iowa.

His music career began at the young age of 2, when he appeared on the local radio singing country and folk songs with his family’s band.

Haden first gained popularity after moving to Los Angeles and joining the band of avant-garde legend Ornette Coleman.

He founded his own band, the Liberation Music Orchestra, in the 1970s. Haden continued to create experimental jazz music until his passing in 2014.
