Bobby Troup (1918-99) is best remembered as a songwriter who wrote many songs, most notably “Route 66,” “Daddy,” and “The Meaning Of The Blues.”
He is also remembered as an actor (co-starring with his wife in the television series Emergency) and the genial host of the televised jazz program The Stars Of Jazz in the late 1950s.
However, Bobby Troup was also a fine pianist who occasionally recorded.
From 1964, he is showcased on an inventive version of “Tenderly” while being accompanied by guitarist Dennis Budimir, bassist Don Bagley, and drummer Danells Barton.
